This area of the web site is under development so please be patient whilst we complete it.

Our intention is to attract new people to our industry and retain the knowledge within it. There will be three areas within the Careers site which offer graduates opportunities that exist with training programmes offered by some of the members of the ESA, an area where the ESA members can advertise new positions within their organisations and a third area which allows any individual to post a summary of their qualifications and life experiences. Some of these areas are time controlled and will delete automatically in order to enable us to maintain a live element to the site.


Graduate Training Programmes within the ESA

Many of the Member companies within the ESA have graduate training programmes. Below we list a number of such schemes with a link to the company and their respective training programme. There is also an individual perspective from a number of people who work for one of the ESA Members and also hold positions within the ESA. 

The ESA is made up of organisations and companies which in many cases are global, as such they will require individuals for many different disciplines from finance, research, quality, engineering, IT and Sales.

David is the Technical Director of the Elastomeric & Polymeric Seals Division and the Packings Division within the ESA. His history of working with Sealing Devices is covered by an article written by himself for our news letter entitled the Accidental Sealing Engineer. His knowledge and experience is incredible yet he started off not knowing what to expect. Description: Purpose

To manage the day-to-day running of the Cleckheaton UK Internal Sales Team in order to provide a full and effective commercial sales service delivering budgeted level of revenue and margin. To act as first point of contact for employees – providing guidance and support as appropriate and dealing with any queries or issues as they arise. The Service Centre Manager and Regional Sales Manager will be expected to work together closely to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the sales function in the designated region.

To manage all customer accounts in the area to ensure the continued success of the Company. This will involve providing a full service to these accounts and generating sales through efficient provision of a high level of service to customers.

The incumbent will also take a proactive stance on the development of departmental processes to ensure an effective use of available technology in order to reduce time spent on indirect activities.

The post holder will be required to be adaptable and able to respond to a constantly developing office and production environment. It may be necessary to assist or cover for other employees in the Service Centre and the Regional Sales Manager from time to time.

Key Sales Tasks

? Be involved with the maintenance of all existing accounts and maintain regular contact with customers as necessary. Look for ways to develop the portfolio of products they purchase.
? Provide and maintain a point of contact for a number of key contacts with specific customers.
? Answer customer queries, developing SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timed) working practices to handle queries more efficiently.
? Log information on calls received, where required and maintain detailed and accurate records.
? Provide technical advice on the Flexitallic product range to ensure that specific customer application demands are met. Where necessary liaise with the Applications Engineering department in Cleckheaton.
? Be proactive in the conversion of initial quotes to actual orders.
? Enter orders in an effective and timely manner.
? Quote in an effective and timely manner.
? Liaise internally with Production to monitor the progress of orders.
? Deal with all customer complaints in a friendly and helpful manner. Log all complaints received and then refer to the Company complaints policy. Liaise with the Quality department as appropriate.
? Ensure that the pricing and discount structure is correct.
? Manage sales reporting and the preparation of bids.
? Provide information on planned levels of sales for rolling forecast purposes.
? Make appropriate pricing decisions in conjunction with the Company pricing policy.
? Set, improve and maintain procedures for all key internal sales functions.
? Develop a comprehensive SOP Manual for the Service Centre detailing current practices and procedure.
? Participate in meetings, conferences, and project team activities.
? Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, Regional Sales Manager and the general public.
? Work closely with the Regional Sales Manager. Make sure they are kept fully informed of any outstanding issues and potential new business. Log feedback on quotes and keep accurate records. These need to be easily accessed by the Regional Sales Manager.
? Responsible for reporting manning and absence issues and organizing resource to ensure that all functions are covered and staff are cross trained so that there are no skill gaps.
? Assist in the creation of a safe and efficient working environment by supporting improvement activities.
? Work with other departments to improve overall levels of service to customers
? Monitor of production output
? Work according to standards and support the optimization of new work practices setting new standards
? Lead problem solving activities to ensure that route causes to all problems are identified and rectified.
? Assist with all other aspects of the implantation of the Flexitallic Operating System.

? Participate in the recruitment of new staff into the Service Centre.
? Manage and motivate the team within the Service Centre
? Manage individual and team performance to ensure that the team’s objectives are met.
? Ensure that provisions are in place within the Service Centre for holiday periods to ensure the customer is unaffected.
? Communicate any employee absence to the Customer Service Manager and also e-mail in accordance with the Company absence policy.
? Ensure that all sales staff are adequately trained and able to perform their jobs competently.

Key Health & Safety/Housekeeping Tasks

? Has specific Health and Safety accountability for the area.
? Monitor the workplace and ensure that it is kept free of hazards.
? Ensure that housekeeping in the Service Centre is maintained to high standards.

To compile and manage all documentation requirements for project orders, ensuring a smooth and timely flow of documents from RFQ stage through to post-despatch final documentation. Additionally to manage all internal document-led processes for the team.

Description: Purpose
Reporting to the Manufacturing Director, this is a support function role for operations and linked departments such as HSE, quality, continuous improvement and compliance. This position will further enhance the implementation of lean manufacturing and standardisation and improvement of processes as well as carrying out routine support tasks. A large majority of the time will be spent working on the shop-floor.

Key Tasks

• Cover for the production management team in their absence
• Engineer technical solutions to improve the performance of machines
• Carryout process analysis and make improvements to work flows and manual processes
• Formation of working standards for 5S, TPM, SMED, milk-run etc.
• Carryout regular lean audits, track none compliance to standards and rectify problems
• Creation of standardised work throughout operations
• Support Project Management with the specifying and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
• Support of resolution of none compliance, quality problems and customer complaints raised in operations through route causes analysis and elimination of problems
• Lead project teams to deliver improvements
• Coordination of OPL’s from daily CIP through PDCA cycle
