Technical Director of Packing Division and Elastomeric & Polymeric Seals Division David Edwin-Scott presented some of ESA’s project activities at the SealConf 2018 in Poland (held from 23rd to 25th May).
The event is organised by The Polish National Centre for Research and Development, Wroclaw University Institute of Technology and The Association of Engineers and Technicians of Polish Mechanics and sponsored by industry including ESA member companies Anga and Spetech.
In fact strong ESA supporter Jan Kasprzyk of Spetech, currently President of the Polish Industrial Fittings Association (SPAP) opened the event with a lecture entitled “Stationary seals – an overview of current solutions and materials”.
Some 44 papers were presented in either English or Polish (with simultaneous translation) covering all aspects of sealing technology. ESA members FS Münster presented two papers covering gasket research and Cetim gave a presentation on elastomeric sealing in Arctic environments.
David Edwin-Scott’s presentation introduced the ESA and its activities, followed by a presentation of our joint investigation with the FSA into Packing friction in rotary applications.
