The 25th International Fluid Sealing Conference organised by BHR Group took place on 4th and 5th March at the Hotel Football, adjacent to Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium. Despite some absences caused by coronavirus concerns and travel restrictions, more than 50 delegates attended the paper presentation sessions.
Three keynote addresses covered a range of topics, including an update of an old friend of the ESA Dr Susan Michaelis on the distressing subject of health and flight safety issues surrounding oil-contaminated bleed air infiltrating aircraft cabins.
Some 18 technical papers were presented, covering a wide range of sealing technology research, innovation and best practice. These included a very clear description of the ESA Fugitive Emissions Reduction Document (FERD), expertly presented by Standards and Legislation Director David Mitchell.
As a main sponsor and exhibitor, the ESA was also afforded the opportunity to give a brief overview of our organisation, and this was covered by Technical Director Ralf Vogel.
David Edwin-Scott represents the ESA on the Technical Advisory Committee for this conference series and in that capacity was Chairman of one session. During breaks in the conference, the ESA representatives manned our exhibition stand and were able to discuss the activities of the organisation with a number of interested delegates.
