A packings standard has been developed by the ESA and FSA Packings Division members over the past years. The current Draft 9 of this standard has been forwarded to CEN to get it adopted as an official standard. After some time it has been accepted by the member of CEN/TC 197 and a working group WG3 was established to work on this standard.

The first working group meeting took lace in May and the ESA draft has been transferred into the CEN format (see picture on the left). The standard describes quality aspects of braided packings and their materials.
