The FSA and ESA have been holding meetings to determine the correct HS codes to be used for the various sealing products. A recommended list (Rev 3 January 2017) has been issued.

ESA Annual General Meeting 2017

The 2017 European Sealing Association Annual General Meeting will be held in Barcelona on the 16th, 17th and 18th May. Following the normal timetable, Divisional meetings will be held on the Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th and the General meeting concerning the Association’s widespread activities will be on the afternoon of Wednesday 17th.

VALVE WORLD EXPO Düsseldorf Dec 2016

December 2016 was the third time that the international trade fair and convention for industrial valves and fittings, VALVE WORLD EXPO, was held in Düsseldorf. 665 companies from 40 countries occupied a total space of about 18,000 square metres. The ESA was represented by 13 Members and had for the first time it’s own stand in Hall 5. The reaction seemed to be very positive and we had 5 new potential member applications. You will see below just some of the many of the ESA exhibitors there. David Edwin Scott also presented the Low Temperature Test procedure being worked on by the Elastomeric and Polymeric Seals Division.

Spiral Wound Gasket Test Procedure

The Flange Gasket division of the ESA and FSA are in the process of establishing a new test procedure for Spiral Wound Gaskets. It is hoped that it could be adapted and created into a standard and also extended to cover Kamm Profile gaskets.

There was a "final" meeting of representatives in Geneva on 3rd and 4th December. It was confirmed that Sealing Devices were on the A list of products to be added to the EGA. This appears a positive position.

Since IED 2010 became an active Directive, the ESA BAT document (written in 2009) needs to be rewritten to reflect the new directive.
