The ESA at the Fluid Sealing 2016 Conference

In March the ESA supported the 23rd BHR Group Sealing Conference at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester, UK. As well as a presentation and update on the ESA from Mark Neal, Andrew Douglas from the James Walker Group presented a paper on the Low Temperature test work and research that the Elastomeric and Polymeric division has been undertaking. The conference lasted for 3 days and was very well attended by a number of organisations not just in Europe but from around the world.

There were nearly 30 presentations coming from a variety of sources including academic and industrial research organisations and some practical case studies which focussed on the following topics;

  • Smart Seals
  • Training, Standards, Competence
  • New Seal and Counter Surface Materials
  • Novel Seal Designs
  • Dynamic / Static Seals and Systems
  • Corrosion and Erosion
  • Leakage, Emission and Legislation
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Cost of Ownership

This was the programme.

There are no immediate plans for 2016 or 2017 to hold a similar conference but it looks likely that another Fluid Sealing conference will be held in 2018. If you would like to keep in touch with the BHR Group they will be presenting at this years ESA AGM or alternatively at
