Message from FSA’s Fall meeting

The FSA’s Fall meeting, as predicted, was an energized event with engagement from all membership levels within the Association. The Board of Directors message, delivered by Mike Shorts, clearly stated their commitment to the growth of the FSA and assurance to it providing real value to our members, which contributed to the energized atmosphere during the event.

Mike also reinforced the associations vision “as subject matter experts and technical leaders in the area of environmental compliance, we are focused on identifying opportunities where we can offer our expertise in influencing and educating the industry to use best practices in regards to sealing and containment devices” and referenced the high levels of member activity and commitment to the path ahead. His message was strong and clear, and certainly resonated with all in attendance.

The Government Affairs Committee continues to be a leading group with regards to driving the association’s mission. Actively participating in the WTO environmental goods negotiations in conjunction with the ESA and CSA [China Seals Association] as well as working with technical director, Henri Azibert, to provide an FSA statement and public comments on the new EPA rule on Methane Emissions.  Both of these are landmark events for the FSA as they are the first time the associations’ voice has been heard with regards to advocating support for two significant legislative changes that will impact the customers and markets the association member companies serve. In support of this the Marketing Committee is working to proactively promote these activities through social media as well as develop training materials on the subject of reducing fugitive emissions.

Two new board members were announced at the general session; Jeff Bernthisel, General Sales Manager at EGC Enterprises, Inc., Chardon, OH, and Carl Jones, Packing Market Specialist at  W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc., Coraopolis, PA. In announcing their appointment Mike Shorts stated “We are excited to be able to add Jeff and Carl as members to our board. Their extensive industry knowledge and great leadership capabilities will add to our existing bench strength and I am very much looking forward to seeing their positive impact on the association

The fall meeting concluded with a spirited and fun effort by membership to publically display their Love for the FSA. Make sure you take a look at the fun on our Facebook page and you can also watch our leaders video testimony on the FSA YouTube channel.
