FSA Update

Message from Mike Shorts, FSA Vice president & General Manager

Hard and dedicated work inside the FSA continues at a spirited level. The Government Affairs Committee continues to be a robust group under the leadership of Chris Swonger, Chair. Chris’ team remains active in the WTO environmental goods negotiations and further activity is being initiated to try and engage the Chinese Sealing Association for their support. The Committee is also working on a position statement regarding the recent EPA Methane Emissions notice of proposed rulemaking. The pace is hurried but well focused in order to provide the best impact to members and industry. The FSA is continuing engagement with the Valve Manufacturers Association and has committed to presentations at the VMA’s 2016 Technical Seminar in New Orleans from March 9-11. Both parties are looking to spring back on this initiative for long-term mutual benefits.
The Board of Directors remains active in working through several activities to help position the FSA as the leading trade association in the Americas that is recognized and accepted as a subject matter expert and technical leader that advocates and influences environmental compliance to create and raise standards in technology, safety, quality, and best practices for sealing devices.
The upcoming Fall General Meeting of the FSA in New Orleans from October 6-8 is forecasted to be a big event with engagement from all levels of the Association and new membership participants. The planning committee has been working hard to create a program that will deliver increased value to the members at large and all guests in attendance. It’s still not too late to join us in NOLA so please contact us if you are interested in attending as we have special guest rates for this meeting. It would be great to see you at our meeting in October.
In closing this update report I leave you with the following thought, “To do more for the world than the world does for you – that is success.” – Henry Ford
