Meet the Executive team

The Executive Committee is the steering group for the ESA and meets every quarter to discuss the various issues which affect the ESA. The Committee is made up of individuals from various member companies. Anyone is eligible to become a member of the Committee and posts are held for two years when automatic re election takes place. We are seeking nominations for two positions this year on the Executive Committee so if you are feeling brave and feel like you could make a difference why not throw your name into the hat. Here are the individuals that make up the current Executive Committee, many I am sure you have met but just in case ...

Wolfgang Bommes

My name is Wolfgang Bommes and I am the Chairman of Burgmann Packings. Burgmann Packings is a member of the European Sealing Association for more than 15 years. I joined the ESA Executive Committee in 2006. I am also proud to say that I was elected to be the Chairman of the Association between 2010 and 2012. I live in the South of Germany together with my family (my wife, our two daugthers and one cat). I love to do sports in my free time (skiing, cycling, tennis). I also enjoy reading a good book combined with drinking a nice glass of wine. The ESA membership provides the opportunity to exchange ideas with the key players in our industry. It is also fascinating to see that within the European Sealing Association we can work on many topics (technical regulations and specifications/environmental issues) that individual members could not do on their own.

Ulf-Oscar Homann

My name is Ulf-Oskar Homann, I'm your ESA Treasurer since 1998. I started my career in 1965 with a commercial apprenticeship in the SIEMENS AG organisation in Nüremberg. Being always related in material management and purchasing I moved to the SGL Group (former SIGRI) in 1979 as the manager of Central Purchasing for their sites in Meitingen and Frankfurt-Griesheim.

In 1996 I changed to the opposite side of the table, carelessly enough, as sales manager at SIGRAFLEX for four years, and consequently became part of ESA. In 1998 I was elected 1998 your treasurer. My main duty is to have an eye on our income and expenditures, luckily enough with the strong support of our Secretary and our Book keeper Burike & Hezler.

In 2009 I became 65 years old and I retired. I'm now enjoying life even more with my wife Margit, two daughters Cordula and Costafize and their families with two wonderful grandsons Oskar and Ludwig and our dog Lica.

David Mitchell

Whilst I am officially retired, I still represent Flexitallic Ltd on the Executive Committee, until the May AGM. I joined Flexitallic in 2002, and therefore became a member of ESA then. I was elected to the Executive Committee in 2005, and served as Chairman in 2008-2009.

Currently I have a special task with ESA to assist with gaining approval for Sealing Devices on the list of products on the World Trade Organisation’s Environmental Goods Act (EGA). I am a very keen sports fan, and spend time at my house in Scotland.

John Morton

I work for John Crane, where I have been for the last 30+ years, formerly an engineer I now have commercial responsibility for pump and agitator seals and packings. I'm the Vice Chairman of the ESA, and have been involved with the ESA for about 10 years. I like sports, actively run and cycle and ski badly. I'm a very keen diver and have been in the past involved in diver training for PADI. I have a passion for cars, especially classics (but can’t afford any good ones!)

Michael Werner

I started to work as a Managing Director for Teadit International in 1994, at that time still in Kirchdorf, Austria, becoming responsible for Teadit Europe and Asia. At that time Teadit was already a member of the ESA.

At the ESA I was Chairman of Fugitive Emissions Working Group from 1998 to 2000. In May 2001 I became Member of the Executive Committee. From April 2003 until 2005 with a prolongation until 2006 I was Chairman of the Executive Committee. In May 2011 I withdrew from it, but returned in May 2012.

My main hobby beside the work is sport with activity in golf and running.

Alberto Rocca

I'm a 52 years old Italian, working at W.L. Gore & Associates in Putzbrunn - Germany, and my actual role is EMEA & AP Business Leader. I'm proud to be the Chairman of the ESA for the last 3 years, and member for more than 15 years. When I'm not working or travelling, I like climbing, mountain biking, running and enjoying my "Italian side". I like my work and the opportunity to meet different people from different cultures.
