ESA's New Year Message

2015 has been a great year for the ESA with some strong progress in a number of areas. We have developed ESA’s first specification to be formally recognized as an International Standard - EN 16752 ‘Centrifugal Pumps – Test Procedure for Seal Packings’. Following on from this, we have also started working on our Potable Water Standard Project with a view to creating a new International Standard. We also continued our efforts, together with FSA, to ensure Sealing Devices would be included in the Environmental Goods Act (EGA).

All these projects go in-line with our resolution to be more influential in the area of developing new standards and maintaining our links with developing legislation. This work needs constant monitoring and development and we are pleased that David Mitchell has agreed to take on the role as Standards and Legislation Director for ESA to strengthen ESA’s work in this field.

We are also completing a whole series of projects within the divisions and developing new ones. For the future, we want our members to have a stronger voice in the ESA; therefore, we have started with identifying what members value the most through our questionnaire. Your input will help us develop a new strategy that steers the ESA into a solid position that aims to deliver value back to its members.

I believe there is an exciting year ahead of us and I would like to wish all members a festive holidays and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Mark Neal,
Secretary General, ESA
