Update from the Technical Director of Elastomeric and Polymeric Seals Division and the Packings Division

Activity has been focussed on coordinating and commenting on the animation videos for the Packing Training programme. These are nearing completion and I am working on how to integrate them into the overall package as well as adding sample audio commentary so we can demonstrate our progress to the members at the Autumn meeting.

I have also been taking comments on the draft Packings Standard with a view to circulating a second draft before the meeting. If you have any comments on this could you send them to me, please. (

We have had our presentation on the Friction project accepted for presentation at the Pump Summit in Dusseldorf at the end of November, now all we have to do is prepare it, which Henri Azibert (FSA) and I are working on. We have just received the last set of planned test results from Cetim and will discuss them during a teleconference later this week.

Last week I attended the second Advisory Board meeting for IVS 2017 in Bergamo – 24-25 May 2017. The call for papers is out with a deadline of November 24th, I will be chairing 2 sessions on Valve Sealing. I will circulate a mail to both Divisions encouraging paper submission.

The Elastomer Division have been working on the several papers to be presented at events over the next few months on the Low Temperature test standard and have been generating additional test data to support this work.
