Packings Division News, Sept. 2016

The Compression Packing Division met the end of June in Manchester to kick off a new project to develop a compression packing standard. As well the division has made progress on their pump packing friction project with some testing results on graphite packings.

UBA - Material Guidelines for Products that come into contact with Drinking Water now in English

The UBA in Germany (German Federal Environmental Agency) have issued an English version of the legal requirements in Germany for Materials that come into contact with drinking water. This information has been provided to the ESA via the European Drinking Water (EDW) organisation who contribute to TC 164, the Technical Working Group responsible for harmonising standards for drinking water in Europe.

The Flange Gasket Division has been working on a number of projects. Having voted to go ahead with year 2 of the Friction Factor project, we now await the October meeting to decide what test options we will go for to try to confirm material factors but possibly using different manufacturers from the first tests.
