The second Industrial Valve Summit (IVS 2017) was held in Bergamo on 24th and 25th May and has been heralded as a great success by organisers Confindustria Bergamo and Promoberg.
The Exhibition and Conference, co-sponsored by the ESA was more than doubled in size from the first event in 2015, with almost 200 exhibitors from the valve community including several ESA member companies. Just short of 8000 visitors were recorded over the two days with delegations from the Far and Middle East, Canada and France among their number.
The European Sealing Association’s brand new exhibition stand was unveiled for the first time and raised interest from several potential new members.
The conference sessions were divided into 5 themes including 2 sessions entitled ‘Advanced Sealing Solutions’ chaired by ESA Technical Director David Edwin-Scott and ESA member Emmanuel Sauger from Cetim. 8 papers were presented in these sessions on topics ranging from cryogenic sealing to advanced metal sealing solutions. The ESA/FSA sponsored Valve Packing Optimisation project being carried out by Cetim was included.
As in the case of the exhibition the conference was larger than in 2015 with 320 delegates attending. The overall success of the event can be judged by the fact that plans are already taking shape for the 3rd Industrial Valve Summit (IVS 2019) which will be held in Bergamo once again on the 22nd and 23rd May 2019.
